What can I expect at the evaluation?
Speech/Language and Occupational Therapy evaluations generally take approximately 1 hour each, and include a comprehensive assessment of the child’s skills using standardized tests, informal measures, observations, and parent interviews. If necessary, we may recommend referrals to specialists such as an ENT, audiologist, orthodontist, or another therapist. A detailed evaluation report will be provided, and if therapy is recommended, the results will be reviewed during the initial therapy session.
Once my child has completed an evaluation, what are the next steps?
1. Review of Results: Your child’s therapist will review the evaluation findings with you, explaining your child’s strengths and areas of need.
2. Treatment Plan: Based on the evaluation, the therapist will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s specific goals and needs.
3. Scheduling Ongoing Sessions: You’ll work with your child’s therapist to schedule therapy sessions that fit your child’s needs and your availability. Therapy sessions are typically scheduled on a recurring weekly basis.
4. Continuing Support and Adjustments: As therapy progresses, the therapist will regularly assess your child’s development and make adjustments to the treatment plan to ensure continued progress toward their goals. Progress reports will be completed by your therapist every 90 days, you will have access to your child’s notes and records through their Patient Portal.
Throughout the process, the team at Spark Therapy will maintain open communication with you, keeping you informed about your child’s progress and provide guidance on how to support therapy goals at home.

How do I pay my bill for my child’s therapy services?
Do you offer telehealth services?
Yes, if your child is an appropriate candidate for telehealth services then we can tailor services to be conducted through a live video visit. If clinically appropriate for your child, we will transition to telehealth in the event of bad weather or lack of transportation to the office. Please talk to your child’s therapist if you are interested in telehealth as your primary service model.
Is my child too young/old for therapy services?
Not at all—no age is too young or too old for therapy services. At Spark Therapy, we provide pediatric speech and occupational therapy for individuals from birth through age 21. Therapy at an early age can be especially beneficial for young children, and older children, teens, and young adults can continue to gain meaningful skills and support through targeted therapy. Each age group has unique needs and our therapists are trained to tailor services accordingly.
How long are therapy sessions?
Services for Speech-Language Pathology are approximately 30 minutes in length. Occupational Therapy sessions last approximately 45 minutes. Therapists set aside time at the end of each session to share feedback and offer strategies to support your child at home. The length of your child’s session will be determined by the therapist to best fit your child’s needs.
Are parents/caregivers allowed to sit in on therapy sessions?
Yes, families are always welcome. Your therapist will work with you to create a therapy routine that best supports both your child’s needs and your family’s preferences.
How long will my child need therapy?
This is the question we’re asked most often—and it’s also the hardest to answer. The length of treatment can vary greatly, as it depends on many factors such as the severity of the delay, consistency with therapy, and how much practice takes place at home. In general, therapy is not a quick fix; it requires ongoing commitment and active support from the family to help the child progress.
What happens if I need to cancel a session?
At Spark Therapy, we believe consistency is key to achieving the best therapeutic outcomes. If you’re unable to attend a scheduled session, please notify us as soon as possible. We kindly ask that all absences be communicated at least 24 hours in advance.Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice—or missed appointments without notice—will result in a $50 fee, which will be charged to the credit card we have on file. If your child is ill we ask that you contact us as soon as possible, there will be no charge for cancellations due to illness. If you have any questions or need to cancel, please contact our office at (720) 230-8235 or your child’s therapist directly.

My child is in preschool, how do I know what may be developmental areas of concern?
If you have concerns about your child’s development, we recommend speaking with your child’s pediatrician or daycare provider. These professionals can offer valuable insight into how your child is progressing compared to same-age peers. Keep in mind that every child develops at their own pace and may excel in different areas.
You are also welcome to schedule a consultation with one of our speech-language pathologists or occupational therapists. After the consultation is completed our clinicians can help determine appropriate next steps. Schedule a consultation through our Contact Us page.
